Oh Hey Stays exists because the way we travel shouldn't cost someone else their home. We built a platform where hosts keep what they earn, guests know what they're paying for, and nobody at the top is skimming the difference. We believe hospitality works better when it's honest — when hosts are fairly compensated, guests are genuinely welcomed, and the platform exists to serve both.

Track A

Mortgaged property

Your nightly rate is calculated from your actual carrying costs — mortgage, insurance, utilities, maintenance — divided across projected bookings. The formula accounts for the platform fee so your net always covers your costs. You cover your costs. Guests get a fair price. Nobody's gouged.

Free-and-clear property

Own your property outright? Your rate is built around a 5% annual equity yield — giving you a meaningful return on your property without pricing guests out. The formula accounts for the platform fee so your equity return is always protected.

Guests see the total price upfront. The fee breakdown is shown at checkout — no surprise charges, no hidden costs. For context, Airbnb charges hosts up to 15.5% per booking. We split our 10% fairly between both sides.

At checkout, guests can choose to add $5 to the solidarity pool — a fund that supports hosts facing hardship, community access programs, and housing stability initiatives. When you book a stay, you're part of something larger than a transaction.

Oh Hey Stays didn't start with a business plan. It started with a single mom trying to raise kids in a world that normalizes taking as much as you can from one another — and deciding that just because something is normal doesn't mean we have to participate in it.

We audit what comes into our lives. We ask hard questions about where our money goes and whose pockets it lines. We know that not supporting extraction and predatory behavior is genuinely difficult in today's world — it requires intention, community, and sometimes building something from scratch because the alternative doesn't exist yet.

That's what Oh Hey Stays is. A platform built in the dark, by someone navigating through it, trying to create something that actually enriches people's lives while still being functional and fair. Not extractive. Not predatory. Just honest.

We believe you deserve to know where your money goes when you book a stay. And we believe hosts deserve to keep what they earn. Everything else on this platform flows from those two things.
